I played beta 5... the entire impression I had the entire time I was playing was "meh".

I've played since the first beta and enjoyed it quite a bit, just pre-ordered last week.

Personally, I've found this game better than EVERY mmo I've played to date. Sadly, it costs 50 bucks. Now if it was free and subscription based, I'd have no problems forking over 14 a month. But no, they want both.

This is no different than what every other MMO does, barring free-to-play/micro transaction obviously. You're essentially buying the game and then supporting ongoing server maintenance and patches with the subscription. They have to make money.

I realized that much to say the least. They'll still make their money with a subscription only package. It'll just take a bit longer.

Odds are the price tag will not stop anyone truly interested from getting it. Multiply that by thousands, and you get a pretty hefty amount. Plus, if the game ends up not being a purchasers cup of tea, Trion essentially gets three months up front.
