Your PSU could handle a Q9550 and GTX480 as it has allmost the same amperage on 12+ rail (40A) as like my CM Real Power M620 does (43A)..

Keep the mobo and go for 2nd hand Q9550 E0 stepping and you're good to go..

Send PM to PanicProne as he just upgraded from Q9550 @ 3.8GHz to SandyBridge 2600K and P8P67 Evo combo and he will tell you that in games he does not see any major boost with SB setup over Q9550..100% true story here..

CHEERS..

you should really google cryengine 3 vs cryengine 2

apparently cryengine 3 = cryengine 2 on medium

@ work can't access gaming sites just from labeled google images

my eyes tell me that cryengine 3 = cryengine2 since i do not notice any graphic improvements with crysis 2

i do see a difference between farcry(cryengine 1) and crysis (cryengine2)

I think you will be fine especially if that CPU is overclocked.

Here's what you do: go into the future about 5 years from now and get a GTX 990+ for $250

oh i only read the OP

Anyways, the 6970 would be a very worthwhile upgrade to your 250. If you're not planning to overclock it, then I suggest getting a 6950 and flashing it to a 6970.

Still rocking the 775? Nice but the Q9550's price seems a bit high compared to more recent "replacements", such as the i5 750 or 760 at ~$200

I have hear that C2 will be less demanding than C1, I wonder if this is true

don't get a 6970, get a 6950 and flash it to a 6970 and save your self some cash, and get the same exact performance.
