It's an excellent cooler, with both fans installed, it's actually quieter than my previous stock AMD CPU Cooler.
bit-tech.net named it the best CPU cooler of 2010.
Seen some reviews outside of Frostytech showing it to be pretty good. Seems to mix and match results with things like Venomous X, Megahalems, Fenrir, etc. So it's proper for it's price range - but it really depends on reviews, these days it's hard to gauge what is best at that price point - only definite things are that: Hyper 212+ is king at ~$30, and ~$80 is SA/NH-D14/Archon.
Frio would only cost me $52 due to free shipping and the KICKOFF code on SuperBiiz at least if I consider getting it.
You should definitely take that A50 off your list if you wanna cool your 955.
I personally bought mine for $9.99 CAD and although it runs pretty cool, the fan is very loud and comes in a 3-pin config. Also, the mounting system for AMD sockets is rather bad. There are alot of coolers out there that perform better and more quietly.
Look for deals around computer hardware stores.
[re-edit] I put the H50, not the A50. H50 is the water based cooler. Otherwise I'd just get the 212+ if I wanted a leading price to performance rated cooler for under 30 bucks. My main goal is to find something that'll beat my Sunbeam CCF, I don't mind having no fans on the cooler itself (ie: Venomous X) since I got 2 Silverstone FM-121's I can use for it (static pressure ain't all that great, but they do have high CFM - 110max).
Currently I'm looking around on google shopping, mwave, amazon, superbiiz, and newegg (although as much as I like newegg, sales tax makes it less appealing), and even eBay.
I really wish the Archon would be available on SuperBiiz, or have it's price dropped another $5-10 on mwave, then I'd just get that instead even if I have to cough up like ~$70 on it (tax and s&h).Edited by yoshi245 - 2/4/11 at 1:48pm
