Well, that's it guys. It's time to get some hype up in here. Battlefield as we know it... is back

Latest News

Just some quick new information hot of the press (ok, so a few days old...)

@Demize99 what are your thoughts on magnum ammo? in bc2 its a must to win gun fights maybe shouldn't be on bf3
Quote:
@kaotic1turtle It won't be in BF3. I'm not happy with the way damage and health mods affected the game.
So, there you go, a head developer is somewhat anti the concept of damage modifying perks/upgrades.

On our recent trip to Sweden, we sat down and talked to DICE's General Manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson, about the company's approach to creating the long-awaited sequel to Battlefield 2. A lot has happened over the last six years, and in the first video Karl-Magnus explains what the company has been up to and why 2011 is the perfect time to release Battlefield 3.

This is it! We are very excited to announce the first details on Battlefield 3 and to kickstart the preorders for the Limited Edition!

Battlefield 3 is the true successor to Battlefield 2. Beyond our signature multiplayer, we have also included a full single-player campaign and a co-op campaign – all straight out of the box. As for fan favorite features, how does the return of jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer (on PC) sound? All this built with our powerful new game engine Frostbite 2, which you'll hear and see a lot of in the months leading up to launch. For the full reveal on Battlefield 3, stay tuned for links to our cover stories hitting the gaming press throughout February, starting with Game Informer right now.

Basic Info:

Beta to start before October 12th 2011 (est)
Vista/Windows 7 compatible only!
DX10/DX11 Compatible only!
Optimised for 64bit

What's in:
  • 3d Spotting - "Yes, there will be spotting... 2D spotting is a minimum... I want a form of 3D spotting that avoids, 'There, behind the tree.' 'What tree?'". "I want a balanced 3D spot that works for a whole team." (Alan Kertz)
  • Up to 64 player
  • Prone stance back in (on all platforms)
  • Players step into the role of the elite U.S. Marines
  • Single Player campaign and co-op mode
