Dell poweredge 2850 and 2008r2

Hi,

Does anyone know how to get this to work? I have seen alot of posts saying download a scsi driver and load it when it says press F6 to load. But I cannot get this far. When the 2008r2 cd is inserted it just says no boot device available. If I use the 2003 Cd it works fine.

Help !!!!!!!!

Now installing!!! Woop woop

Here's what I did
Format the thumb drive
1.from a DOS prompt execute: diskpart
2.list disk
3.select disk 1 (assuming disk 1 was your thumb drive in the above list disk command)
4.clean
5.create partition primary
6.select partition 1
7.active
8.format fs=fat32
9.assign
10.exit

Copy the Win2008 install files
1.xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (assumes your dvd is drive D: and your thumb drive is drive E:\, adjust accordingly)

Then on a seperate usb drive put these drivers on
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=2684&l=en&s=pub&releaseid=R227150&SystemID=PWE_PNT_P3C_2850&servicetag=&os=WS8R2&osl=en&deviceid=6395&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=1&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=4&libid=35&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=326367

make sure that you are able to boot from usb(follow this guide)
http://www.planetmy.com/blog/how-to-configure-dell-server-bios-boot-from-usb/

Then boot 2008R2 from USB(do not have the other USB inserted at this point) and then if you find you have no dard drives showing when you are asked which partition to install on insert the other usb(in a different port)choose load driver. It should find the needed driver then choose next. After this you can see the hard drive and choose accordingly.

Install normally from here

Yup.

Find out what storage controller you are using (whether it be a discrete RAID card, or on board), download the server 2008 R2 version for it, throw that onto a USB drive, plug it in, and in the setup part where you select your hard drives select "Load driver" or something like that.

Definitely one of the perks of Server 2008; loading drivers from USB instead of having to use a floppy drive!
