Opinions about Viewsonic VX2250WM

Thread Starter
Hi everybody!

I have been looking around for a new monitor which has a good quality/price-ratio, and I'm wondering if this one is any good: http://www.viewsonic.com/products/de...x2250wmled.htm

Does any of you guys have this monitor? Is it good or does it have some (major) flaws? Or have you heard that this monitor is no good?

Or is there perhaps a better monitor in the same price range? Feel free to suggest a different monitor, I'm open to everything

I'm not working with any visual/pictures, or something that require a high quality monitor, but I do some random gaming and watch movies. So not looking for the ultimate hi-tech, just for a good monitor

Thanks for your help!

Well Viewsonic usually are quite ok with image quality and so on!
I would recommend Samsung monitors though, they usually have good picture + a low latency.
For gaming usually 5ms monitors are to slow for me, I prefer 1-2ms!

I almost bought this monitor but went with a samsung instead, (better deal at the counter), I like both VS and SS, I dont think you will be doing yourself a disservice either way tbh. Hindsight being 20-20, I would have gotten a display with HDMI input and the Samsung model I have has a pretty crap stand... if thats a factor for you.

What are the advantages with HDMI input? I have heard that DVI and HDMI has the same signal, quality-wise. Do I get better image quality when using HDMI instead of DVI?

DVI and HDMI are the same thing. Uses the same cables for video from what I know. Only thing is that HDMI have sound too

Not an audio/video phile myself, and to my knowledge they are the same... now with hdcp there may be some future copy protection thingy to consider with blu-ray, it was mostly a nice to have / may use it once in a blue moon sorta thing... in fact I thought the samsung had an hdmi input (it was advertised as such) but when it showed up... surprise... just dvi-d.

Thanks alot guys, I really appriciate your help!

I think monitors with lower respons time than 5ms becomes a bit too expencive, and I beleive that my eye don't see the difference anyway, so sticking with ~5ms monitors. And I think that I will cope with DVI (HDMI is not a must).

Samsung has some potential monitors, but here where I live, in Finland, the ViewSonic is a bit cheaper. I can get it around 160 euros.

I still continue to look after some alternative monitors, so still feel free to name some good monitors that replace the ViewSonic VX2250WM.

I have a 24.6 HANNS-G monitor that runs great and got it here in the states for 189.99, 2ms response time, 1080p

To bad it is discontinued, but HANNS-G seems to be of good quality
