It's not "split" into two hard-drives.

When you configure RAID at the hardware-RAID or hostRAID (or "FakeRAID" or "firmware" RAID) level, the RAID array appears as a single-drive to the operating system, regardless of the operating system.

From the perspective of the operating system, as far as it's concerned, all it is seeing is a single hard-drive. It will not know the difference between your "RAID Virtual Disk" and any other single hard-drive in your system.

It's sort of like the Devastator Transformer... it's made up of a bunch of smaller Constructicons into one big Transformer...

Thanks, but that wasn't what I was asking. My question is...

What happens when you make a backup useing the software, which saves it in ONE big .dat file, how will the backup software know how to spllit that file back onto two HDD's (seen as the whole point of RAID is to split the files 50/50 that way doubleing read/write speeds) If it's just one big file, then how will it dump it back onto two drives? (yes I know RAID only sees it as a single drive, but I'm talking about physically.)

Thanks.
