3 HDD's in RAID5

Thread Starter
If I have 3 500 GB drives in RAID5, all with parity on them, and I run out of space, what should I do?

I know I shouldn't get all new larger size drives to set up, but can someone tell me what other options I have?

External Drive for storage? You've only got 1tb, it's not a lot of space for today's cheap HD world. I have 500 GB in my computer of storage, and 3tb in my home server, and there are others that have a boat load more than that.

what controller do you have? If you have anything decent (hardware card, *nix software) then you can add more drives and expand your array on the fly. If you're running from the motherboard - well your options are limited. I would probably buy a couple of 2TB drives and go RAID1 instead...
