Need help with HDTV setup/BR drive

So I just purchased a 42" 120hz TV and was thinking of getting a PS3 for a Blue ray player.

I decided it would kind of be a waste of money considering I wouldn't play it other than Netflix and Blue rays.

I have then decided to just purchase a BR drive and connect my TV to the mini HMDI port on my card and just buy a mini HDMI to HDMI 25ft cable to reach my TV considering it is in my room.

I currently have my monitor connected to the mini HDMI port on my card but a buddy of mine was telling me the DVI port would give the same performance.

So my question is will this setup work for watching BR and streaming video and such to my TV? Do I need to connect the extra cable to my card for sound or is that just to have the sound from my TV come out of my PC speakers? The speakers on my TV are not that bad.

I'm so lost on this subject and it is all new to me considering this is my first HDTV other than my monitor which I only use for gaming and PC use.

Thanks for any help or info

Yes your plan will work to watch Netflix and Bray movies. Also If you plan to used the TV speakers you can do so with the HDMI. Go with the HDMI instead of the DVI that way you can pass auido aswell. If you plan on using your PC speakers instead of the TV you can used the DVI connection and should not need any special cables for your speakers. Hope I was of some help! GL and enjoy ur new TV

I bought a 25' mini HDMI to HDMI 1.4 cable for my tv and a DVI to HDMI adapter to connect my PC to my monitor.

Only cost me about fifteen bucks shipped and I'm going to pick up a BR drive when I see a good deal on a decent one.

It's going to cost me so much less than a PS3 and I won't be wasting money on something I won't use.

I believe your 460 is enabled for hdmi audio pass through so you wouldn't need a separate cable for audio. You will have to set it up under nvidia control panel but its really easy. If you are only going to use the player for BD and netflix, there are much cheaper options that will work great. I have a Samsung BD-C6500 and its pretty fast at loading BD's, has 1GB of built in memory, and I got it for around 180USD

Yeah I figured that was the case with my 460 but thanks for the reassurance.

Im looking for a decent BR drive for my PC for around $50-$60 just haven't picked one out yet.

This option I am only spending about $65-70 to play BR on my TV instead of picking up a PS3 which was my other option.
