So, what u guys think, does gaming on linux have a future? When will we see game developers releasing big games for linux? and will we ever see it? personally i'd love to be able to game on linux with no need to emulate windows environment, cause this approach just wrong, although results that Wine was able to reach are truly impressive, i can imagine how many people would switch to linux if there were at least couple modern big game titles available, i really wish there was a way to push developers to start making decent games natively for linux, i remember over a year ago there were rumors around the web that valve is working on steam for linux, but unfortunately it wasn't true, sad, cause that could be a good start.
"i wont use linux, cause i can't game on it"
"if linux could game i would switch in a heartbeat"
people who are gamers, aren't typically linux users, what ever the reason for it, i don't see it as a negative towards linux since it is not a major supported gaming platform.
wine has come a long way, but its not "emulating" windows, its adding a compatibility layer, which allows windows program to run "natively" as any other program in linux.
so in the long run, doubt mass gaming support will ever come to linux, linux is meant more for the professional activities that computers are used for.
