Which mobo?

Thread Starter
I'm not sure which mobo out of these 2 to get. One has usb 3.0 and sata 6gb + costs more and the other does not have it + costs less. Is 3.0 worth it to be future proof?

I'll be running a Phenom 555BE + gtx 460 on it.

$190 vs $179

I may be mistaken, but I think the links are both the same board and combo deal. So I take it one of em is that board, whats the other one? That board is decent though.

Couple more bucks but you'll get the 850SB.

Nah, that'd be a downgrade
1. mATX
2. still no CrossfireX and it costs more
3. The 870 board DOES have a SB850
4. 4+1 power phase unheatsinked not very safe for unlocking x2.

By all means if you don't mind losing SATAIII/USB3 (whether you want CrossfireX or not) go for M4A79XTD EVO, best board for the price. If you do fancy SATAIII/USB3 (i.e. you want a SATAIII SSD in the future) go with GA-870A-UD3 instead of M4A87TD EVO, it's actually cheaper despite not being in combo deal and I prefer Gigabyte boards.

Ah yes, but when thread was made link was broken and the only board that was up there was both 790 chipsets. He said also that he was running 460 in it so I didn't think the requirement for fire was necessary but I did infact link the wrong board. I meant to link the M4A88TD-V EVO, NOT the m4a88TD-M. It has xfire capabilities and better power phase design. So good catch nonetheless. I saw the m4a88 and copy and pasted before reading full specs, good catch. So yea, OP THIS was the board I meant to link. And they aslo have an OB one here for way cheaper. Let us know what you decide and good catch xd. Always on top of your game, lol.

M4A88TD-V EVO is a good choice, but if you really don't need the IGP on it I wouldn't consider it worth it, since it costs extra and all it really provides is the IGP, there's no bonus of 8x-8x crossfireX support or whatever.

The two AMD boards ~$100 I usually suggest nowadays:
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO - 8x/8x CFX but no SATAIII USB3, linked already, now at a very cheap $89/$74 AR
Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 - cheaper than M4A87TD EVO - 870 chipset, no 8x/8x CFX but SATAIII/USB3- $95

Yea I hear ya. All good boards really. I am just REALLY biased towards Asus, lol and that EVO board. Owned two thus far.
