have you read the article?
give me the numbers not my server gone down, servers rebooted or something like that...
I've heard that it was ~100,000. Which would make it rather unremarkable. I believe when the iPhone 4 launched, Apple had 600,000 preorders the first day, and that isn't including how many orders AT&T had taken before their web servers crashed.

The Droid probably sold 90,000 on the first day, so Verizon made 100,000 iPhones available knowing that it would break the record. This ends up creating media buzz and the illusion of scarcity, both of which will strengthen Verizon's momentum leading up to the official launch date.

But I'm just speculating here.

ugh.... so much hype on this and it's a terrible deal
these people will see 2 new iphones come out before they can think about upgrading
not to mention the question of why you would go the iphone route over android phones, especially the 4g lineup, most with dual core processors that hit the shelves soon

Probably because at the end of the day, dual core phones dont provide any real world advantage over regular phones. Really, what's the advantage? Is the Facebook app gonna load 2x faster or something? And 4G/LTE will have limited coverage throughout 2011 anyway.

As a person that doesnt use much celluar data, I personally dont care one way or another about 4G. Thankfully I simply dont rely on it. I see it as nothing more than something that's going to kill my battery at a faster rate while jacking up my monthly bill. Don't need it.

The only reason I would get one is because of the GUI. Even then I have an Evo so I probably wouldn't at this point. Even so, it really is a great device, so I'm not surprised.

Hope they have fun with Verizon's crappy UL/DL speeds. I'm loving ATnT's 4Mbps DL/1Mbps UL.
