hey everyone here are my current specs

AMD Phenom II 1055T Six Core Processor 2.80ghz
-ASUS crosshair IV mobo
-evga gtx 580 oc edition video card
-corsair 12gb ddr3 1333mhz
-windows 7 64 bit os
-cool master 922 case
-corsair 750w power supply with 80 plus
-22 inch benq led monitor
-cool master v6 cpu cooler

i just got my rig overclocked in the bios to 3.5ghz but i wanted to ask what should i keep the dram frequency at?...right now its at 1000mhz but should i put it back to 1333mhz ?
everything else the voltages and all that i left on auto ...
i am actually running crysis at a good 50-75fps at 1680x1050 compared to when i had the cpu at stock 2.80ghz..its was only 40-45fps...

since your FSB is at 250 you should just be able to increase the ram multi and get it back to 1333mhz. that may need a bit of adjustments on the timing...
whats your NB speed? and whats your Vcore? i was able to lower my Vcore a bit with 3.5ghz.

nice fps increase you got from the overclock

hey i have dram frequency at 1000mhz when i turned it back to 1333mhz the computer rebooted and said overclock failed so i had to put it back to 1000mhz...everything else is on stock but its running smooth and i think ill keep it at 3.5ghz since a game like crysis is power hungry and i am getting the fps i like i dont want to go any higher......

Maybe you're confused about the effective RAM speed? If your FSB is 250 (up from 200), then you may have to multiply the RAM speed in the BIOS by 1.25 (250/200). So if you set it to 1000 MHz, then it will actually be 1250 MHz. I believe CPU-Z will show this.

If you're able to run the RAM at 1333 without overclocking, then this is probably the case.

sorry thanks for the response to be honest i am new to overclocking and just learning the basics...if i keep the ram at 1000mhz will that cause issues?

i ran prime 95 for 2 hours and everything passed no issues

No it wont cause issues. Run Prime95 atleast for 8+ hours, to make sure it's stable.

hey i just looked at my bios and here is what i have right now as an update...i still ran prime for a couple of hours and no issues or warnings what so ever...
cpu bus frequency 250
dram frequency 1000mhz (my stock is 1333mhz but right now i put it lower.
Ht link speed is automatic
thats all i actually touch noting else i didnt change any voltages but i will show you what i have:
these are stock :
cpu offset voltage 1.389
cpu/nb offest voltage 1.151
cpu vdda voltage 2.514
dram voltage 1.508
Nb 1.8 voltage is 1.802
and so on so on....as i said i only changed cpu bus frequency to 250 and put dram to 1000mhz....do you think ill need to change anything else alot of ppl are saying my ram my have issue...help would be great.

thanks

Use CPU-Z to see your actual RAM speed. If it's below 1333 (I think it may halve that, so 666), then you shouldn't have any problems. There's no problem with your RAM - except that you could buy faster RAM - but I don't think it's worth it.

Know that increasing the bus speed also increases the Northbridge, Hypertransport, CPU, and RAM speeds. If you want to overclock higher, you need to make sure each is stable.

Atleast for me, I crashed after three hours of prime95 or intensive gaming when my RAM was 1333MHz and 1.5V. Now that it's 1667MHz and 1.65V it's much more stable. My CPU is 250Mhz x 14.0 = 3.5GHz too, voltage is 1.29V with Linear Load Calibration on. But my instability might be because my NB is overclocked a bit too, it's 2500Mhz and both NB and CPU/NB voltage set to auto, HT Link is locked to 2000Mhz.

And I could imagine that such a slow RAM speed (1000MHz) would slow down performance by a few percent in memory intensive apps vs 1600MHz and overclocked NB, but even as such it shouldn't be anything big. Just something to think about since you're overclocking and might appreciate the little boost.
But yeah, if you're not crashing I don't think you're having a real issue, just keep this in mind if you experience crashes, I've heard Thubans - while not requiring enormous voltages - are picky about CPU/NB ratio and RAM speeds.
