Is Prime95 Still a good stability test for OC CPU's?

I let Asus Turbo EVO on my new board autotune my cpu overclock. I ended up stopping the OC at 3.8ghz. I believe the stats were as follows (237/16 - 1.375v, NB-1.1v & DRAM 1.55v) I then ran Prime95 for 10 Hours straight and my load temp never broke 49c and it passed all tests within that time which i want to say it said 386 tests and without any errors.

What are you guys experiences with the 955 BE and OC'ing? what by the way is the worst thing that can happen running a unstable OC? crashes and windows coruption?

Yeah it's reliable. IntelBurnTest and LinX are other good programs too. I've been using LinX most lately though.

so do the numbers look decent to you and would you say after 10 hours error free i'm stable or should I keep testing. Also again what is the worst that can happen with a unstable clock.......windows corruption and crashing?

I've had OCs pass Prime blend 12hour but fail a short LinX 20 pass.

Test with LinX for stability. Or for folding test with the folding client. Each usage stresses the system differently so in theory you should test stability for your usage.

I'll say 13 - 24 hours of prime would be somewhat good.

There are time when I fail Prime95 after 13 hours. My system become really stable when I pass Prime for 24 hours. The funny thing is sometime OCCT would fail within the first 15 minutes. Sometime it's vice versa. In my opinion the word "stable" is really up to how you perceive it. Running these test will give you piece of mind but there are several mix results when using stability test. Do what you think is best. If you leave your PC on for 24+ hours then Prime95 for 24 hours. If you only use the PC for 4-6/hrs on average then test for 13hr on Prime.

Yeah basically my PC is only on for 4-6 house on weekends and maybe 2 hours on weekdays. I will run a long prime test tonight again and I think i will run a linX test when I get home from work too. How do my numbers look? reasonable?

OC at 3.8ghz. I believe the stats were as follows (237/16 - 1.375v, NB-1.1v & DRAM 1.55v)
Also sorry to keep asking the same question but what is the worst thing to happen if I am using an unstable OC. Windows corruption and crashing? or do I have more to worry about. Obviously i know if the voltage goes to high I can fry stuff but i don't plan on going to much higher. lol if at all.

I'm not very knowledgeable on AMD CPU, others can help you on that.

If your PC become unstable you'll get constant BSOD crash, after hours of usage. I never had to reformat my PC due to unstable overclock so window should be fine, IMO. Games that uses multi-core can decrease in performance since some of the core will fail. Stuff like that.

okay so i'm truely unstable if i'm getting bsod often huh? so thats when i reconsider my OC if I think i'm stable. lol

and it's true I will see more performance out of increaseing the base clock or frequency of the cpu rather then just increaseing the multiplier right.

BSOD's and file corruption mostly.

but yeah, if you're short on time lower the "Time to run each.." from the default(15) to something lower like 10 or 5. If you are unstable, it'll show up much faster that way.
