BFBC2 sucks at eyefinity think it will be the same on 3? - Page 3

I agree it's really nice and actually BC2 is one of the few games that is optimized for eyefinity

It just seems to be choppy for no reason, haven't tried in a while

There are plenty of advantages. Like you could have your iron sights up, looking at one particular area, while glancing left and right, or just notice movement out of the corner of your eye. It makes sprinting from cover to cover feel a whole lot safer, knowing the immediate areas in your peripheral are safe.

I really don't understand how people cant see the advantages of having 3 screens. The centre screen shows pretty much what everyone will see, plus you get a hugely extended real estate to the left and right. It allows you to be more situationally aware, while remaining focused on where you think enemies will appear from.

Its not even that expensive. I paid much more for my graphics cards, than the two extra monitors I got, and 1080p monitors are a lot cheaper again.
I don't think that it is that necessary, for a start the sounds and hit indicators allows for a good perception of where people are. I can see the advantages of it in simulators like iRacing and Arma 2, and even some arcade games like HAWX etc, these are obviously optimised for three screens and the real advantages are apparent, especially in the sims, due to the complete and utter lack of margin for error. In BC2 which isn't optimised and the margin for error is increased substantially the real adv. that three screens gives you is lost imo.

EDIT

So well optimised that it crashed the OP's game!

OP you are having the same issue I am having with BFBC2. It isn't your drivers, or your system. You are going to have to monitor your video card mem usage with MSI afterburner. Chances are you are reaching your video cards memory limit. If you are just turn down your video card settings. Also I read somewhere that there is an issue with running textures on high with the game.

wrong, BF3 is a new engine, BC2 runs on Frostbite 1.5, BF3 is on Frostbite 2.0 which according to some of the new trickle on BF3 that's coming out is amazing.

There are a bunch of people on this forum who are running BC2 on eyefinity with no problems. I think it might be something system specific for you. Hopefully someone who is also running it fine can come along and help you.

edit,

like the post above me says (good point) monitor your vram usage.

Oh OP you could be having the same problem I had. I know this might seem utterly ridiculous. But open your settings.ini file in "Documents\\BFBC2". Change "SpeakerCount=0" to "SpeakerCount=1". That should fix your crashing in eyefinity. Once you play for a bit you can change that value back at any time.

Two senses are better than one.

3 screens are not that useful in racing games, as you will be focused on the next corner in front of you. The only thing it adds is more immersion.

I don't know what you mean by "margin for error". But I can assure you, having actually used eyefinity for quite a while now. I am not losing any advantage that 3 screens gives me, by any means.

You seem to be completely convinced that there is no added benefit to being able to see more in games. But really you should try it for an hour or two before you make an informed decision.

If you can find one person who has an eyefinity or nvidia equivalent setup. Who prefers to play with one screen, and not just because of technical issues, then I would be very surprised.

So well optimised that it crashed the OP's game!

Eddie.
I don't get any crashes.

Also the OP is using ATi 5000 series like me... I hope he's not using 10.7 to 10.10 or so for BC2.. worst drivers ever. They randomly throw you out of the game.. black sceen, no error message.. nothing.

The ones I am using

Rolled back to 10.10c this week because of SC2.. 10.4 + SC2 = no units = fail/

And no, setting A.I to low (removing 1 of the GPU's) doesn't fix the unit bug for me.

Regardless of it being the same engine developers are constantly updating and upgrading their game engine. Such as this is the new and improved Frostbite 2 engine they are going to be using.

Who knows if it will do Eyefinity better. Cross fingers?
