If you want my opinion (I know it isn't worth much) I would stick with the 6950, unlock to a 6970(if applicable). And in the future if you aren't satisfied, buy an additional 6950/unlock to 6970 and crossfire those two.
It seems to me that if you went with the two 6850's you don't have a future with those cards, as in you can't buy a second one and crossfire like you can with the 6950.
Sorry if my thoughts don't make sense, I can't explain myself well in this situation.
Everyone opinion is welcome and you're wrong by saying it's not worth much. I appreciate your suggestions and you make perfect sense. I wasn't worry about the heat since my Antec 900 has good airflow. I was also pondering about future upgrade as to getting a pair of 6850's. I hardly upgrade my hardware since keeping up with technology is very expensive. I bought the 6950 because I had a third LCD collecting dust in the closet. I wanted to utilize it and try eyefinity. Let me say Eyefinity was mind blowing on the first month. After a while I went back to dual screen and disable the 3rd monitor for regular usage. That's when I started to think. What is the best option for me? I sold the 3rd monitor so no more eyefinity, I beat Crysis, Civilization V, and Batman AA switching from single monitor to eyefinity back and forth. I was reading a thread on this forum and it really got me thinking is the 6950 really the best bang for my bucks? There is currently an HIS 6850 for $144.99 each AMR
. According to the benchmark I posted, the 6850 CF beat the 6950 in almost every game with exceptional frame rates. Then again as you mention there is no future upgrade with the 6850. My friend and I xfire each other two weeks ago. He said Diablo 3 is the last game he's going to play. I agree with him, I've been waiting for D3 for sometime now and that's the only game that keep me interested in new tech. After D3 I'm going to hang up my jersey and retire, I'm already at that age where responsibility come first but constantly chose to ignore it for various reasons
