well all that unchecking looks interesting but perhaps a bit much to config everytime you reinstall but thank you. personally i just use cccp and update with builds from http://www.xvidvideo.ru. also i use this guide ->http://imouto.my/watching-h264-videos-using-dxva/

i use bilinear (PS 2.0) instead of bicubic. on some slower computers bicubic can make films lag.

5.Play a movie(anything dvd or hd) right click on the MPC Video screen
7.Right click on Video(again :z)->Shaders->"Combine Shaders"->drop down list->select "16-235->0-255 [HD][SD]"
8.Again Right click->Shaders->"Combine Screen Space Shaders"->drop down list->Sharpen Complex 2

the above two shaders imo makes all way to dark and to sharp. plus it properly also takes up some cpu so i would avoid those.

No after you do this conifg. Next time all u have to do is install ffdshow and mpc it will overwrite new files keeping ur settings.

I personally get horrible contrast when I use the shader combines with 16>255[SD][HD]. It's waaay too dark with this, colors get too warm and it seems to wash away detail in the midtones. The only shader I use is Sharpen Complex2.

( edit )

Also, why do I need FFDShow? I've never installed it or used it. What does it provide that I don't already get with just the stand-alone MPC-HC x64? (I've never had any trouble playing any video files without it?...)

Right click on your MPC video screen->filter->check if ffdshow audio decoder is working

if not you have not you haven't disabled any source filters.

then check your windows sound frequency if audio problems it maybe ur speakers doesn't support higher frequency try lowering them from 96000hz->48k->41 in control panel->sound

ffdshow offers very latest codec builds and no compression algorithms. You have done something wrong. let me show u the difference.

0-255

16-235

it does make a lot of difference in player. maybe dvd will look bad still its perfect.
