ffdshow offers very latest codec builds and no compression algorithms. You have done something wrong. let me show u the difference.

it does make a lot of difference in player. maybe dvd will look bad still its perfect.
although it might look awesome there's still a bit of loss in the black level of the picture. f.ex try and look at the na'vi on the left wearing the ceremonial dress. the dark parts of that is almost completely gone wenn you use the "16-235->0-255 [HD][SD]" shader effect. in my opinion the sharpen effects are also way to sharp making artifacts even in good quality hd material.

but im not to decide what people are to do. only saying smil3dbd4e4c2e742.gif

I got rid of ffdshow and all software like that, got rid of divx/quicktime and this is the KING of apps. And has been for years.

Another fantastic solid release. 10/10
I agree, I'm using MPC-HC from a long time, really love it.
I see FFDShow useful for more advanced users, but for most MPC-HC alone is fine.
Just a question, should I use DXVA even though my CPU is powerful enough to play any video? If I understood correctly DXVA was made for weak CPUs that cannot play videos correctly.

Yes DXVA is very old codec you get artifacts here and there and quality also is reduced still better than blu-ray players. If u have quad core uncheck dxva.

Thanks.

WHAT?????????

dxva gets better in every build of mpchc, and the quality is better than playing by cpu, that is the real use of a gpu (play video)

Wrong. The decoder in any GPU is limited it either can't accept higher bitrate or cause problem during decoding such as corruption or improper colorization. lemme show you. This problem comes in many movies when u play via dxva same place exactly any gpu. And MPC has nothing to do with DXVA or other codecs as DXVA is a ancient codec and its standardized you can't improve or decrease its quality, it was designed entirely for people with athlon 64+, athlon x2,pentium -d's etc to run higher bitrate movies as even with 100% load those cpus where never able to run even a low bitrate HD movie

Thanks for the reply, changing to 16bit has not made a difference.

Although when I right click on playing movie and go to filters, I cannot see fddshow in the list of possibilities.

Did you do this? Disable all Souce and transform filters?

You told me earlier to leave all DXVA codecs ticked in order to utilise the GPU? Shall I untick them all?

I appreciate your help
