Any way to prevent certain programs from seeing media keys?

I've always used the Play/Pause/Stop multimedia keys on my keyboard for controlling my media player (Windows Media Player, etc) and I can usually do so regardless of which program I'm in.

However, I've noticed several other programs that react with these keys, and it causes an unpleasant situation. It's very noticeable with YouTube videos, when I start playing the video, hit Play/Pause on my keyboard to pause my music, and it pauses the video as well.

Is there any way to allow Windows Media Player to "see" these keys as usual, but prevent other programs (such as Flash player and Firefox) from responding to them?

Some keyboards have media keys implemented via the standard scancodes that have been standard since forever. Others, the designers decided to be clever or were incompetent enough to not know that media keys are embedded into the PS/2 spec, so reinvent the wheel by making you use drivers to give you that functionality.

What keyboard do you have and do the media keys need drivers to work?

Logitech G110, which uses the standard media keys. I had the exact same problem with my old generic PS/2 keyboard... it's really YouTube's fault for responding to the Play/Pause key and I'm trying to get around this. Flash player should never need to see these keys IMO.
