[CVG]Capcom's controversial DRM returns to PS3 - Page 5

Well with any luck as more and more draconian forms of DRM come out on consoles it will finally make millions of gamers get angry and they will back off a bit... hopefully on PC too.

First, I was quite clearly using general terms in my last sentence, much like you did in yours. Hypocrisy suits you.

Second, he said what he said in response to someone explaining why Capcom was utilizng this method of DRM. He effectively said it doesn't matter that people are stealing the game because they wouldn't have bought it anyway, so Capcom shouldn't feel the need to use DRM since they didn't necessarily lose a sale. In other words, I didn't read into what he said at all; I simply pointed out the faulty logic.
Clearly you misread or like I previously stated, you read into it what you wanted to.

Someone had commented that they wish the company didn't have to do this because of people stealing (pirating) their game.
He responded that the company does not have to do this and that not every pirated copy = a lost sale.

Then comes you, generalizing what he said to a common justification for piracy, which was NOT was he was saying. He stated facts: the company didn't have to do that, and not every pirated copy = a lost sale.

Then you come in, insert your own words and twist what he was saying to come up with another petty anti-piracy argument. What you said was uncalled for, as he was not condoning piracy.

It's not worth arguing with you. If he didn't want to talk about piracy, then he shouldn't have mentioned it. I justified what I said, and I'll leave it at that.

Hopefully this will make developers realize that piracy is just as bad on consoles as it is on PC.

Who knows, they might even just stop QQing, stop using piracy as a scapegoat for bad games, and start making good ones again!

A stolen game will pass validation on account of the physical disc being identical. And no, they don't have to resort to DRM. They could make, gasp, GOOD GAMES!

The recipe is simple. Make good game --> Market good game --> Sell good game --> ??? --> PROFIT! Valve doesn't have to QQ about pirates and treat us honest gamers like scum because they make good games that sell very well.

Too bad this is a PSN game and the only way to acquire it is to buy it via PSN and this makes piracy pracitcally impossible.

Therefore, there's literally NO NEED for this DRM.

When I first bought bioshock(PC) I couldn't even install the game because of the DRM, that is something to complain about.
No, having to be connected to the internet IS something worth complaining about.

Maybe it's ok for you because you never take your PS3 anywhere.

Here's the deal:

Problem: Something is happening that you're ok with, but other people are not. The other peoples POV's were appeased and this makes no change on your current level of happiness. YET, you still want to tell those people to shut up.

Solution: Realise that eitherway something happens you're going to be just as happy as you were before. Shut up and leave other people alone.

For instance, if you're happy having to log in every time you play, fine. Other people aren't and would like the game to not require you to log in. Eitherway, nothing will change much for you. So, shut up.

Again, what purpose does this serve? To prevent pirates from downloading the game for a week, 2 at the very most?

I don't believe there is a game that comes out that doesn't get cracked, if anything the games that are the hardest to crack are the ones they try to crack the hardest. (That kind of didn't come out right but I just woke up.)
