World of Warcrack-The best game or best drug?

So I tried quitting WoW a few times and it didn't end to well. Heres how it went down.

This is over a 6 year period.

1st Try: (lvl 35-40 I cant remember)Lasted 1 month, signed back up.
2nd Try (lvl 60-pre BC) Gave all my gold away and vendered all my gear.
3rd Try (lvl 70) Stopped playing. Learned not to vender all my gear and give my gold away because its a ***** to get back.
4th Try (lvl 70) Im really done this time! Gave all my gold away, vendered all my gear, Deleted all my toons, uninstalled game, bought my first guitar.
5th Try (lvl 1) Opened up a ticket, told em I deleted my main by accident, got it back and played to from 70-80 and lvl'd a few other toons.
6th Try (lvl 80) Kingslayer title, mounts, and a ton of gold, im burnt out. Sold my account in 1 day for $200 on craigslist to a local kid.
7th Try (lvl 80) 2 months later, found out a ton of people at my work play. Bought a new copy of the game, realized it sucks lvl'ing a new toon. E-mailed kid who I sold it too. Pay Pal'ed him $250 for my account back.
8th Try (lvl 85) Played the first two weeks of Cata, got burned out. Now Im done. I didn't give my gold away, didn't vender anything, didn't sell, didn't delete or uninstall game, but this time feels like its for good

WoW is the best game Ive ever played. Seems more like a drug. Dont you think? Just a little vent about ME

I quit in june after playing since launch after about a 6 month break after burning crusade's release. I don't have any regrets about quitting other than it costs me a ton more money to stay busy. Instead of the $15 per month I'm probably spending close to $150 in games each month instead, but I don't feel pressured to stay in and play when I don't feel like it. Wow was really wasting my rig's potential anyway.

Its a love/hate sorta thing.

Ive had my times away from it and started back up with a clean slate shortly before cata. I dont play everyday anymore and sometimes just stop in to check on my auctions but ill probably keep it going for when I have the urge.

At least for now...

I play a good amount. I like working on my dps in raids and hanging out with my guild. Nothing else to do in the winter.

Not sure how anyone can become 'addicted' to such a mind numbingly repetitious game..

This sounds a lot like me. I've been playing since on and off since beta over the past 6-7 years. I have to agree, definitely the most addicting game I have ever played.

If you call it repetitous you're doing something wrong.

to the op; if you get addicted or not is probably based on the person itself, and what you feel you have time to. I play it myself and have done so for the past 4 years if not more, but I don't regret it.

I've made a ton of friends out there from wow, and I do now mostly play it because of the social aspect. I'm a fulltime pvper, I'm not obligated to show up for raids and all, play when I want to and not because I have to. I've had a few breaks, like in the end of season 8 there was literally nothing to do if you had all you wanted (safe glad titles on alts which was what I wanted, for example), and it was really no problem at all for me to just wait for the cataclysm release.

I've never been the kind of guy that just plays wow for no particular reason, more because I like to hang out with people I've got to know and do arenas on occasion, if there is nothing to do, well, I simply log off, so I do believe I'm not addicted to "the game" itself, more the social aspect of it.

Then perhaps you can explain it to me?

High level raids = "OMG stick to your rotation"
Leveling = "Go here, kill this, return, rinse, repeat"

How often do you have to grind the same dungeon/raid for certain gear?
The fights never change, enemies always exhibit the same behavior.

PvP is based around a quick rotation of 3-4 techniques.

Not sure how you can believe that the game isn't repetitious in the least..

Blizzard is making tons of money from wow still Technically I don't think wow will ever die, Surprising People will continue to pay every month for subscription and blizzard going to keep releasing new expansion every two year UNTIL YOU DIE FROM PLAYING WOW....

But seriously I did play for one year it was fun for bit but the game gets really repetitive after awhile... %50 people play this game act like douchebag in the game.

If you ever were good at pvp and competed in international tournaments, then, maybe you would say otherwise

"3-4 techniques" good joke.
