Wireless Card for Gaming

Thread Starter
Hey guys/gals

Need a wireless N card PCIe that would be great for gaming. The card I have now works great but it's PCI and touches my new GTX560ti. Thanks!

EDIT: Do those USB thingys work well for gaming?

if yours works great then leave it, don't worry if it touches, just make sure the fan won't touch your card

From my experience, wireless and (fps) gaming does not go well.
But my experience is from years ago

The main concern is packet loss with wireless gaming.
Sure, you can open a command prompt and generally receive replies at 1 packet per second using ping, but once you're sending out hundreds of packets per second, especially over UDP, you're losing a bit of data.

Granted, you can still game somewhat reliably.
No option to move your wifi card down a slot?

I wouldn't want ANY of my cards physically touching the other one, but that's just me. I think that you'd be ok with gaming as long as you don't get a super cheap adapter.

I had a USB wireless thing from Charter and it worked great on my computer. Ping was no different between it and being wired.

I find a ping above 50 unacceptable to play with to be honest, but I mainly play FPS.
MMO's are fine with pings up to 200.

I do, and it sucks compared to wired.

There is a reason people use ethernet to do high bandwidth stuff like gaming. Wireless is wonky
