some have already said but i use only trillian and there is the trillian 5 now (altho its a beta). In my opinion is the best alternative so far

I think this xfire skin is pretty slick and you get 7 colors to choose from if I remember. All I edited was the text colors to make them darker on this white background. =) This has the MSN icon by the msn contacts and nothing by the xfire.
