I wouldnt go with any of that personally, older chipset, cl9 ram is frowned upon, and he already has a 5850
Like the Ram. I have mushkin ram right now and they have worked well for me. Like the mobo but I don't see much of a difference other than the sata ports being newer 6gb/s. As for processor I think I'm going to go with the x6 version just to be on the safe side ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103849 ).

Thanks for the help thus far.

For that you can use the 1055t and overclock to 3.2 if you want the higher frequency.

With that mobo I got 4.0 easy as hell with my 1055t, the newer chipset helps greatly with that.

Grab this aftermarket cooler, its very cheap and produces favorable results

That mobo you posted looks like it is having tons of issues. Almost nothing but 1/5 stars on newegg for two months. Not sure I like those odds. Will get that cooler though.

newegg is a horrible reference for information. If you would like, try searching around here on OCN and you see some good results.

newegg results are fantastic cause you can see how the batch of boards they have is doing good by the most recent comments!!!!!
Like that board may be fantastic but they do send out bad batches and you might get one outta the bad batch.

Tru, I don't go solely off newegg reviews but not THAT many people can be stupid enough to break their mobos right? lol

Also, do you have issues when plugging in a usb device using the front ports? Herd it is giving people problems with that board.

Honestly that starting rig isn't bad. If you want to save a few bucks I'd actually recommend upgrading the GPU to a GeForce GTX 560 or AMD equivalent, buying a high-end Wolfdale CPU and overclocking it (680i doesn't support Yorkfield and Kentsfield support can be hit-or-miss), and if by chance you're a student get a discounted version of Windows 7 through Ultimate Steal or MSDNAA.

EDIT:
Just re-read OP and saw the bit about motherboard failure. You can probably disregard this post. Sorry.

Yea np mott.

I've been reading up on sandybridge and it seems sandybridges will be back out at the end of February. The i5-2500k sandy bridge is only 180 on microcenter and is better than the old i7-950s. Maybe I should skip AMD build completely and wait for the i5-sandy to come back out? I was going to go with AMD for the price but if its 200 bux I'd rather get the better proc. Yea?
