PSU Cover Steel Mod
Lutro0 you have much I need to steal so the least i could do is cred. His work log is excellent you should check it out
I ditched that plastic psu cover. I wanted something across the whole way for a clean look but with panache, what's a case mod without it?
So acrylic i go a cutting. I made some touch ups with a dremel only to figure out it flings balls of hot acrylic. My arms are now smooth and i have a new respect for acrylic and next time will pray to Syrillian god of acrylic.Acrylic cutting
Hack saw baby! cuts through metal like butter and through acrylic like it's concrete. Took me around 2 hours actually. Patience and bullocks of steel the test of a true man at 4 am... Sorry that's my beard talking haven't shaved in like months.
Stability is boss.
Pepsi is boss. Just a FYI band aids are from a bad burn not the blades. Also be careful.... I'm generally dangerous the band-aids should give it a way. Got in a fight with a furnace and lost.
Oven mitts are boss(and manly). After that fight with the furnace I don't take any chances.Steel bending
I am now gonna move on to bending Apologize for the crotch shot it was unintentional.
Oh shout out to "ILOVEPOTtery" for the help with the bending tho sadly i didn't even follow the tutorial posted by another member he had sent me.http://www.overclock.net/faqs/118766-how-build-performance-shroud.html
I just put a bunch of clamps on two pieces of wood and used leverage on 26 gauge steel and a half inch bend.
The key is clamps for the smaller bends put that wood in a choke hold keep it together or it just slides out.
Now that i think about it... good thing i didn't lose the battle with the steel.
I over bent it... I just took a hammer and hammered it out crude but effective.
This is more bending.
End pieces.... will sand/paint when i have more time this is all i have done for now.
It might be a while till i update as i will probably be gaming something that's very hard to do on a old PC/laptop and encoding obviously so i can fit more pron this HD has got to go bleached bungs be damned.Painting
Painting in the winter for the win..... Rustoleum flat black still need to do the other side and sand/paint one last coat for a little imperfection i made.
Some snow did get on it, but it dried perfect the imperfections were caused by part of the box and theres a little scrape and coverage mishap so I'm going to sand that out and do another coat, then onto the other side. So far so good.Edited by luvsan - 2/6/11 at 8:44pm
