That's a very bad example to teach your students, really....

Techs MUST have a cell phone, as you often get calls for instant service, and of course these calls are worth the big big bucks $! Cha ching!

Today 2 Calls (3 hours work) and I made almost $300, see my point?

Get smart and get rich! Learn how here... <<My blogs on My Space

===============================================

Becoming a PC Technician looks all the more rewarding now....

Considering the above statement about the % of people who own a computer (laptop or desktop) being around 55.5 % (averaged)...

Let's say 10,000 adults are in your immediate area, that means 5,550 of them own a computer (if not 2 or more!), in fact I've met many people with more than 2 computers!

Let's say that on average 5% of them have a problem this month, that's 277 People!

Let's say that they like your work (referred to you) or are visiting your store for the first time, and you are not far from another tech shop, which means there is competition....

If you were to take even 1/3 of the 277 available customers, that's roughly 92 customers a month (rounded up)...

If these 92 customers roughly profit you $50 on average to repair their computer (this is very realistic), then you stand to make...

$4,600++ a month on average! However, this is far from realistic, when you first start out, it's slow, then a year or two later your hammered with work!

The average income of a successful PC Tech, running their own shop alone is around $7,500 (Before business operating cost)!

That's not small change to any of us, surely! That's roughly $90,000 a year, and guess what, you can do it without a college education!!! <<NICE

Just thought I'd share that little bit of brain with ya..

LOL, like (cough, cough) other surveys, 85% have a cell phone, 14% wont admit to it, and the other 1% still live in caves.
Elder people, tech-nay-says and such can make the number go down a bit.

In Finland approximately 1% still has a landline. Personally i have seen only one household with a landline in the past half a decade.
Based on statistics, there appears to be a lot more cellphones and subscriptions registered to households then people living in this country...

At work DECT and wired are the only possible options.

I do not own a cell phone =). I do however think that I will be an owner of a Verizon iPhone 5 in the future.

Once I move out I probably won't have a cellphone. I can't justify paying at least $40/mo for something I use a few times a year. I don't even remember the last time I've used my phone.

I'd rather just put the money towards something more important to me like my rig.

I was just trying to find the cheapest subscription from Verizon and T-mobile and i figured that it would be the same $40/month as above.

What a ripoff.
If other carriers are like that too, then there should be a lot of room for a new one.

I pay 67 cents a month from mine + calls and sms (both around 0,06€).
For half a decade i had a plan that cost me full zero per month if i didn't use it.

I've seen 10 year old's have cellphones. I try to get down on there level for why they need a cell phone. I guess it's good for when they go to a friends house in the neighborhood and it's a good way to make sure they are okay and to tell them to come home (to do chores, eat, or time to come inside because it's getting dark) I'm only 19 so when I say this don't let me lead you to believe I'm older. But when I was there age that wasn't the case I could be a half a mile down the road and all my mom did was just come out the front door and yell at the top of her lungs my name. And I could hear her for at least a 3/4 of a mile and at a bout a mile it could be hard to hear but damn that's a long ways. Still to this day I don't understand how she did it. And I didn't get a cell phone till I was 17 and that's when she turned lazy and started to be annoying she could be in the kitchen and I could be in my room (about a 20 yard distance literally probably less) and she would call my phone and try to have a conversation with me I'm like why did you not just come to my door. It was funny the first couple times but after awhile it just got annoying she would call me for the most stupid stuff.

Anywys i'm getting way off topic but yea my point is I really don't see the point in a 10 year old having a cell phone.

I only seem to need a pc for hardcore gaming now. Well that and ebay... Since I'm still new to smart phones I'm sure I'll find more reasons to stay farther from my pc.
