Just Wondering??

If i have a 2 dual channel board will it work with just one 4Gb stick of ram or do i have to have At least one set of dual channel and its ddr3

You can use one stick of RAM and the system will work, but you'll only be able to utilize one of your memory channels by doing so (single channel). If you populate at least one bank/slot on each channel then you can utilize both channels (dual channel).

thanks man and one more thing With crossfire 8x Vs 16x is 8X really slower or no

There's a review floating around here somewhere that the difference on a high end system is 1-3% or something. Not really a big deal.

That's entirely true. A single stick in one channel, and the memory controller goes into single channel mode, which means buying a triple channel set for AMD (like one newb did) just hurts performance.

And a test with a GTX480 as sole GPU found under 5% loss of FPS in an x8 slot, and around 10% loss in an x4 slot. Dual x8 will still be way faster in compatible games than a single card at x16.

and yeah im gonna buy a Dual channel kit i think when i order my other 5770 and that board and maybe ill do 16GB but i think 8Gb is overkill for gaming
