Black Artifacts with Two GTX 460's SLI

Thread Starter
So I'm having a small issue where I'd get these black artifacts or lines randomly when playing Mafia II and BC2. I'd only get these black artifacts during the cut scene in Mafia II but it's quite rare during the actual game play. On the contrary, the lines and crap occurs more regularly in BC2. I'm not sure what's causing it but it's definitely not an overheating problem since both my cards never exceed over 60 degrees under full load. I also play with vsync on so screen tearing is out of the question.

I'm currently using 265.90 drive and both my cards are factory overclocked.

How are the temps?

Also try reinstalling your drivers, when I SLI'd my cards the driver screwed up pretty badly and I had to reinstall it.

It's usually 60 degrees under full load and hours of playing; 30-32 when idling.

Well if there are no other suggestions then I will try reinstalling the driver again.

Is it possible that the cards at the factory were not tested for OC stability in SLI? I'd try lowering the clocks and see if that helps... It could also potentially be your PSU as well... But that shouldn't be the issue, just a possibility.

Either way, keep us updated,

That could be possible but I doubt that's the case for me since I just ran kombustor for stability test which showed no indication of graphical errors.

Also, it just seems to be Mafia II and BC2, I've yet to see it happen in other games.

Hmmmm, it's really starting to sound like driver issues now..

Have you installed the latest yet?

However, it's also could be a bad SLI bridge... As this guy was having the same issues: http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/3644...sed-lines.html

Do you have a spare? Or try SLI without them... See if the lines disappear ( Note, this is not a permanent solution lol).

Yes, I've tried the 266.90 driver before installing the quadro 265.90 and it was horrible. I kept getting the infamous white screen after 5 minutes of playing BC2 so that was a no go for me.

Luckily I do have a spare, I will give this a try, thanks.

So changing the SLI bridge worked, I used the bridge that came with my Asus mobo and it got rid of the problem. Thanks a ton for your help InF3Rnus!
