Setup RAID on a Gigabyte 890FXA

Thread Starter
As the title says i am wanting to setup a RAID 1 in my BIOS. I have never done this before on this board. When i tried i would get a BSOD. I am trying to mirror my two 1TB seagate identical drives together. When i go into the bios and adjust to RAID, i am no longer allowed to see any drives. Either way im very much a noob in this area. Guidance would be asked pleased (detailed if possible)

I did a version of this the other day on my GA-890FXA-UD5 board.

I plugged 2 Samsung F3's into my GSATA ports and made sure I could see them in the BIOS. Then I downgraded from F5 bios to F4 bios, since apparently there are RAID issues with F5 (and F6 got rid of half-step multipliers on the clock).

Then I just followed the manual. Rebooted, turned on RAID for the gsata ports, rebooted again, hit the magic keys to enter the RAID setup after the initial POST (ctrl-g?), then followed the manual to select the two drives & config them as raid1.

Booted into win7 & verified that my raid array was seen as a 1tb disc (with a drive name of what I set in the RAID setup). Everything seems fine.

If you're trying to do this on the main SB850 ports then things may be a bit different. I didn't try doing that as I only wanted two mirrored discs to store photos/videos/important crap on. You might try searching for "raid" on this thread. It's where I learned about the bios & raid issues. I remember reading about some folks getting the BSOD when setting up raid.

I had to have RAID drivers to set up my RAID 10. I had them on a usb drive and installed them when prompted. Just follow your instructions in your motherboard manual.
