XSPC RASA OWNER SHOCKED! 7V MOD less noise + lower temps!? - Page 2

interesting, posting before and after ambient would be good, screen shots of temp changes would provide more support for your claim.

This. I highly doubt that the pump adds SO much heat to your loop.

Definitely not, but perhaps the lower flow rate is more optimal for the xspc rads? I recently rebuilt my loop and reseated my blocks, scrapped the 7v mod for a few days and then reinstalled it. I once again saw a slight 3-4c load temp drop with the mod and it is much quieter.

FYI, it's not a high power consumption pump, I only measured around 9 watts.

I also tested the RS240, even with 1000RPM fans, the C/W is .057.

So, assuming 1000RPM, the 9 watts from the pump can at most account for .057X9 or 0.5C.

If you go from 12Volts to 7Volts, the net improvement due to heat would be around .25C.

In other words, you couldn't possibly measure an improvement with a 1C resolution sensor even if there wasn't any flow rate gain. Any "perceived" gain is error due to a combination of ambient changes, TIM application changes, and mounting inconsistency.

Not to say there couldn't be dramatic noise improvements, don't doubt that at all, but don't assume or sell a performance improvement to go with that...pump heat related gains would be at most a quarter of a degree under the best possible scenario.
