Need help finalizing a mobo

Thread Starter
Hey guys its me again (I swear I'll stop asking questions once I get the rig ordered!)

I've got my entire build the way I want it except my motherboard. I just cannot find the best solution for me. I want something with Sata3/6gps and the option of USB3 for future USB devices. Now the fun part... I have 5 SATA devices currently and will probably add another in about 11 weeks. I would like to just add that device and then later have to add a SATA Controller(?) to be able to add more.

I have about $120 that I can spend on one. I would like to OC my new CPU as I am throwing a H50 on it to keep it cool

OK so here is my build.... I love the case and the cooler so I'm not really into compromising those.

Case: Corsair 600T $159.99
Cooler: Corsair H50 $75.99
PSU: Antec TruePower 650W $89.99
GPU: MSI Twin Frozr II SOC GTX 460 $149.99
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4 GHz $159.99
RAM: Kingston HyperX 4GB (2X2GB) DDR3 1600 CL9 $49.99
DVD: Sony with DL support $17.99
Monitor: Hanns-G 18.5" Widescreen $94.99 (again wife wants this one and I can't get the 20" I wanted )

Subtotal: $798.92 before shipping.... using my iPod Touch to browse NewEgg so I can't see until I go through with the check out

I would like to keep the subtotal below $920 with the motherboard on there... that give $30 for me to spend on shipping and my case has about a $20 shipping charge on it

please help me out guys, I had my build perfect before SB got pulled and I can't wait too long to order the new PC

thank you so much for putting the name!!!!! I can't stand when people just put the link.... web filters make shopping annoying! I like that board, I've heard that ASRock really stepped up their game as of late. In my SB build I was going to use their Extreme4 series. I think I should at least give them a try...no harm in trying, I can always RMA forever!

ASROCK does a good job (according to reviews). I just completed a build with 870 Extreme3 and had no problems so far!

Not to hijack this thread but....

Hey no problem, the pleasure is mine. I got couple threads about the build so let me know if you have any questions.

Nah I shouldn't have too many questions bout my build after I order it.... I'm just so indecisive about computer parts that my wife is about to kill me. It's kinda funny she takes hours to buy shoes.... I take a month to buy a computer

I'm also working on another fun little side project dual booting my Core i3 laptop with Windows and some OS produced by some sort of fruit company

I don't think I'll do any updates about it at all, maybe just toss it into the background of me building this rig when I do my build log about it.

I'd consider the ASRock 890GX a great choice that really fits the budget they're now the 3rd largest mobo manufacturer over MSI and have been doing a very good job at it actually.

The other AMD motherboards I usually suggest ~$100:
Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 (no CrossfireX 8x-8x, but does have SATAIII/USB3 for inexpensive)
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO (CrossfireX 8x-8x for cheap, no SATAIII/USB3)

I doubt I'll ever run Crossfire or SLI..... really no need IMO for my gaming needs... I'd rather follow a good story line or just kick the crap out of something....

Now just gotta wait on Good Ole Uncle Sam to send my refund check out

I'll be taking videos of my build and taking tons of photos.... Sorry no unboxings (everyone is doing those) mainly I'll do some vids of the tricky parts of the build.... but shouldn't be too many with the case I am getting
