Laptop Fan life?

Thread Starter
I've been wanting to get a laptop cooler to help reduce the strain on my fan, its been about 1 1/2 years since I bought it. I'm a bit worried about my laptop now since the average life span is two years? I clean my laptop daily too ;]. I'm thinking of buying this, [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Notepal-Notebook-R9-NBC-8PBK-GP/dp/B002NU5V4A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296932505&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: Cooler Master Notepal U2 Notebook Cooler with Two Fans R9-NBC-8PBK-GP: Electronics[/ame]. Not sure if its worth the 28 or so dollars. Laptop is meant for gaming as well. Highest temps i'll get is 92-94, so I'm a bit worried there too.Sorry for all the noob questions.

I have a laptop from 2007-2008. And the fan is perfectly fine.

mos tof the time, so long as its not gunked up with dust and you clean it maybe every 3-4 months, the fan should last you a long time.

If you're cleaning your laptop and you still get those temps, I would definitely invest in one of those laptop coolers like you linked. You may even want to consider checking the TIM.

Are the idle temps abnormally high?

I never looked through OP's whole post, but those are high temps. Even my recent laptop, while folding only gets around ~60C at load.

Idle is around 65-70. I asked about idle temps a while ago and someone said it was normal for a laptop. So yeah, I'm going to invest in a cooler..hopefully it'll work

When you say that you clean it daily, have you opened it up and cleaned the insides?

What processor and GPU are in that thing?

I have a Lenovo T500 with a C2D @ 2.53ghz with an ATI 3650M GPU and the cores idle at about 38*c.

Max gaming load I got while playing CSS for a few hours was around 72*c and even under Prime95 it never went above 75*c.

I would definately take that thing apart and check on the fan situation.

What model lappy is it? How do the exhaust ports look?
