5ghz, almost stable -Help!

Thread Starter
So i passed the 1 hour small fft last night and got through about 50 minutes of blend before I blue screened. This is all with HT off and at 1.48v. It was recomended that I up to 1.49 and try there, but on my previous runs I was using auto voltage on extreme and didn't really change any other settings yet. Odd thing is, prime almost completed but super pi was giving round errors. Really would like to get a 5ghz 24/7 OC with HT on. What all do I actually need to change to achieve this?

for sandy bridge is really more vcore to get it stable. Other setting would not help much. if you need around 1.49v for 5ghz with HT-OFF then you will need around 1.52-4v with HT-ON and you will have 8C-10C higher temp. you can do 4.8ghz with HT-ON but if it really does bother you exchange your cpu and see if you get a better batch.

After 4.6ghz you won't see any different apart from benchmark. Even if you go water cooling it will be hard for you since your voltage are already high, 1.5v is the max i'll go and that's with water.

Try to get 4.8ghz ht-on you will still have one of the fastest rig around.

So whenever I manually set the voltage, when prime starts, i just get a shutdown, no bluescreen. Any ideas?

Well, ended up putting HT back on and lowering it back down to 4.8 with the voltage set to auto, highest temp ive seen on one core is 78 so far and 20 mins into blend. It seems to be sitting around 1.424 so if it finishes I'll leave it here.

I guess the only real question I have now is the memory. Right now its sitting at its stock specs of 8-8-8-24 1.5v 1600. The only thing I've tried thus far is to up the clock to 1866 but then I dont even post, I have to use the mem ok button.

and of course, blue screened 10 seconds after i submitted the last post /sigh

its more difficult to get higher ocs with more memory since it puts more stress on the memory controller

If you use a high BCLK yeah, but can't raise the BCLK very high on Sandybridge.
