My 60GB SSD not enough, get another?

Hi everyone,

I'm a newb so go easy.

I bought a 60gb SSD to be my only storage and now I'm regretting it. It's full and I'd like a bit more room to install say 2 or 3 more modern games. At the moment, I can only have 2-3 installed at a time and thats only when I'm not having to download+install (double the file size)...

I have a 60GB OZC Agility 2... should I just get another one?
I hear the Vertex 2 is better and costs the same: would there be a problem if I used them in combination?
If I decide to get a regular HDD for additional storage, what is more important to have on the SSD: games or OS stuff?

I don't mind getting another 60gb ssd. They are fantastic!

60gb ain't much to OS and games indeed...i don't think that there will be any problem to get a different brand SSD to a RAID0 combination, but you should buy a identical drive for the superstition sake tongue.gif

If you are low on disk space you should avoid to do any kind of file storage on that drive, as the whole Documents folder that you can save in another drive. You should also save your downloads on another drive if you can, and set the temporary files folder to it too.

For performance, OS and games should be intalled on the faster drive.

Wish I could tell you I knew what a RAID0 combination is, but I'm new to hardware and all that jazz.

I think I want to stay with the SSDs, since I really don't do movies, pics, or music. Just games.

I suppose I will buy a Vertex 2 and use it alongside my Agility 2... does hooking it up require any additional steps (in order to get that RAID0 combination thing working)?

you need to set RAID0 in the BIOS. But you will need to reinstall everything and will loose every actual data on the drive.

Setting RAID0 configuration depends on your board and what raid controller you will need to use. The board's manual will be your best friend in this operation since you know little about RAID setups.

RAID0 will take your 2 drives and "make" only one. The data will be stored in the 2 drives with no redundancy.

OS and Programs should only be on there, maybe one game but its you fault its full, also change your downloads directory...

run your OS on the SSD and a few programs and pick up a
500 or larger Samsung HD for everything else..

My 60GB SSD with OS and a few goodies still has 38-40Gb free
