Intel Integrated Graphics: Faster RAM = Improved graphics performance?

Hey there!

I have an Acer Aspire One 532h with the Intel Atom N450+GMA 3150.

I was wondering if upgrading my ram to a unit with a higher clock speed would improve my graphics performance at all (since the GMA 3150 leeches off of system RAM).

I currently have 2GB DDR2 @ 667Mhz (I don't know the timings at the moment...).

Thanks. cheers.gif

NOPE. It wont matter if you upgrade your memory to 800MHz. It may give you slightly better benchmark scores but the impact on visual performance will be absolutely nothing.

I just wish I could adjust the amount of VRAM used. I use OnLive and while it runs flawlessly in 720p, it struggles at 1080p.

VRAM is irrelevant.
The integrated GPU is quite sensitive to your CPU power.
Since you have an Atom, this is going to be absolute garbage.

In short, there is nothing you can do to this system to make it better at gaming.

More of a CPU problem.

More of a CPU problem.

I game using OnLive. OnLive is a streaming service. The actual games are running on high-performance servers hundreds of miles away. I was wondering about methods used to improve HD video streaming performance. It runs fine in 720p.

I've heard of the Broadcom Crystal HD, but I'm not sure if that will work with OnLive. They use a special compression algorithm and it might not be compatible...

Any particular reason you require 1080 on that tiny, low res netbook display?

strange that you want to do this. you cant really improve the performance of a netbook. if you want to do this your going to have to upgrade, sorry redface.gif

changing to faster rams won't increase the gpu core, memory and shader frequency! so no, it won't help!
