i7-970: Extra 6 min TPF on 6900?

So my 970 picked up a 6900 WU today after doing 2 2684's. Normally, I'll get a TPF around 30:30 but on this one, it's around 36:30. I'm not really sure why it's taking so much longer. I've tried restarting the client and computer but it hasn't made a difference. The only thing that I've done since my last 6900 is adding a RAID 1 array. I didn't install the OS with AHCI enabled so I had to edit the registry. Could this have something to do with it? It also seems like my rig is spending more time at the welcome screen now, but maybe I'm just being paranoid.

The only other thing I can think of is that I added a 9800GT but I'm pretty sure I had about half a 6900 left when I did. Currently folding with the 9800GT and 2 GTX 470s. I'm also using the -SMP 11 flag.

Edit: Stock clocks with turbo on, running around 3300mhz.

I think you know what to do. Shud down the 9800GT and see if it makes a difference. If it does not re install the OS.

I actually just shut it down before you posted Should know in a couple of hours if that's the problem.

What's it OC'd to? A 30 min TPF with SMP -11 sounds a little high, but then again you folding with all the those GPU's as well. Scutzi is at 4.3 and is usually pulling 23-24 minutes on 6900's.

Stock clocks with turbo on, it's running around 3300mhz. I checked HFM and I'm averaging 30:49 after 3 6900's, although I'm not sure if that's including what I've done so far on this 6900. I know I've seen my TPF as low as 30:10 sometimes.

It's working on its 1st full frame with the 9800GT off now. Doesn't look like it's made a difference so far, but I'll definitely let it finish a few more frames. If that's not it, anything else I could try before reinstalling Windows?

They can vary from WU to WU, but if you really want to push the TPF down OC that chip to at least 4.0 - 4.2. Should be easily done with you H50. Scutzi was pushing 4.3-4.4 on the stock cooler with temps in the low-mid 70s.

Oh and you'll notice a slight difference on your TPF when you're using your computer for normal functions like browsing, music etc. I'll add about a minute or so when doing the same and if I'm running smp -7 + all 3 GPU's my TPF is about 38-40 min.

I'd sit back and let the computer go through a few frames and see what the TPF is. Also is the computer performing any background tasks?

Definitely going to OC it, just not sure when. I've been watching the temps for awhile now and they're normally around 50 during the day and 40 at night so I might have to do it soon Also haven't used it for anything since it's picked up the 6900. I checked the log file and it has consistently had 36 min TPF's (at 23%).

Also, it finished its 1st full frame with the 9800GT off, still has a 36 min TPF.

Check and see if Windows is indexing the hard drive it is likely it is after installing the new raid. It will use quite a bit of the cpu when indexing the first time after a new install or HD system.

And by the way this is what that 970 is capable of at 4.4Ghz

I didn't realize the PPD was that high. If I can get this problem figured out, I'll definitely be OC'ing very soon. How can I check if Windows is indexing it? Also, I set it up on Wednesday or Thursday, would it take that long to index?

Open the task manager go to performance then Resource monitor then cpu. It will list all running programs and how much cpu they are using. And no it should be complete by now. But you will be able to see if anything is running and using up any cpu cycles.
