Says for about 436mhz, 1.4 is perfectly fine.

I get 460*9 = 4140Mhz - 24 Hour stable @ P95 blend at 1.3v

Coretemp says my VID is 1.25, under cpuz, it's 1.432

I'm on a p965 chipset.

Anyway, I've been looking at the q9550 overclocks, and it seems like people are hitting 4ghz 375*8.5, with lower volts than mine. I must be doing something wrong, I guess I'll go increase the NB or memory volts a bit and lower the vcore...
You may also want to check your GTL & VTT. I use *8.5

NB GTL .67
CPU GTL .67
VTT. 1.22v
NB 1.47v

your CPU is fine.

I got out benched by a 3.4GHZ Q6600 with a GTX 470.

I have an i7 920 at 4.2GHZ with a 6870.

Core 2's are not slow in game's at all.

I think the volts used to be lower, but I had to fed it more a few months ago after deciding the bench it again and it was unstable. Hardware desegregation is my guess. The wonderful world of overclocking!

However, I have gotten a better case/fans since then, maybe I should try to lower the volts. But it probably won't do much to be honest.

Just gaming and stuff to be honest.

So let's say an i7 machine at about 3.7 with the rest of the specs exactly the same as mine, the gain's won't be big, but it is a far superior architech. I'm just worried that my q9550 will have a bit of a hard time playing explicit quad-core games, since the 9550 isn't "native quad", unlike the i7/i5 series. Hopefully the gaps won't be too big, or I will start to feel like my CPU is undeserving.

You should never go just by what a guide suggest. Sure, use it as a 'guide', but overclocking is done in baby steps. You inch your way forward until you find that 'sweet spot'.

Hi guys,

I've been in a overclocking mood, so I think I am going to try and tweak it a little further. I agree the 1.4 may be too much for 3.7.

So, I'm going to go for 4.0. All this on a P5B Deluxe!

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with such acronyms such as VCC and GTL etc. I don't even know if those volt settings are available on my motherboard.

Wow, I don't know what was wrong with my settings last time, but it looks stable at 1.325.

This is really strange, since I distinctly remember trying everything to make it stable, and only 1.425 minimum was the lowest volt that would make it stable.

Anyway, I think I've hit the wall with my p965 motherboard, I can't seem to go anywhere near 4.0.... Errors and crashes even at FSB 445mhz.

Ugh, it's really too bad, I wanted that 4.0ghz. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do with my p5b deluxe to achieve this?
