Canon 60D or Nikon D7000

I'm waiting for something that lands in the middle? are there any rumors?

I'm starting to outgrow my D3000, and I really want video. D3100 isn't that much of a upgrade, and D7000 is too much.

EDIT

Nikon D7000 Body is like $1200 + Taxes and shipping, but I already have a Nikon AF-s 35mm f/1.8 (Only $200, easy to sell)

Canon 60D Body is $888, plus like $400 for the 50mm f/1.4 I want.

I'll check my BestBuy employee discounts on both of them, but I believe it's not much.

Between the two, the D7000 has a better body, with partial weather sealing, larger body, second dial, and (IMO) better ergonomics. The D7000 also has an in-body AF motor (something the D3100 lacks), larger viewfinder, pentaprism viewfinder, and faster burst rate.

As far as I know, nothing is planned to fall in between the two.

Personally, if you have the money, I'd choose the D7000 myself. However, looking at your lenses, would a body or a new lens be a better buy for you? How do you feel about your current lens collection?

I can make any lens work, but I'm getting annoyed at being limited to like ISO800, and sometimes ISO 1600. I'm also thinking about buying a dedicated HD video camera, which buying a all in one DSLR would be way better..

I definitely have the money, I'm just not sure if I'm willing to spend it, and I'd also have to sell my D3000, hopefully with not to much loss.

I'll check my BestBuy employee discount on it tomorrow.. I could get a D90 kit for like $699.. but I'd feel more comfy getting the latest technology.

Yea, I was about to say, if you want the middle ground why not look at a D90?

Personally, I still feel the D90 is a great camera, but if you want the latest, my vote is for the D7000. The bigger body and second dial alone makes it worth it, IMO. It's the same reason why I can't go to a Rebel T2i from my 50D even though the T2i offers better IQ at high ISO. I can't give up the nice body and back scroll wheel

It's possible Nikon will announce a D5000 replacement in March, which I think will be more in line with wath you want.

Sold the D3000

When do they generally announce things in March? I can get a refurbish D90 for like $600, and I'm really trying not to get it just yet.

The D7000 isn't too much, in fact it seems just right for you. That's the route I would go.

I just noticed the 60D is only $875 for the body + $120 for the 50 1.8

Sooooo, It's either:

$1200 = D7000 + 35 f/1.8

or

$1010 = 60D + 50 f/1.8 MINUS what I can sell the Nikkor 35 f/1.8 for.

Honestly, I could care less about the brand, I do like the Nikon button arrangement over the Canons, but with all the Canon users out there, I'm sure I can get comfy with them after a while. It seems like a no brainier? My main upgrade reason was for ISO performance and video. D7000 has a slight edge on ISO, but 60D has a greater lead on video.

With ~$350 saved, is there something I'm overlooking?

ASLLOOOO! What are some good budge => f/2.8 lenses for the EOS mount??

You should go somewhere and actually try out the 60D first. It's not much like the previous xxD cameras anymore. They literally took everything away that made that series great. It's more like a really nice Rebel now. Not that it's a terrible camera, just FYI.

As for f/2.8 lens, the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 is popular and a bargain compared to the Canon version, though I think that lens is worth every penny.
