Crazy laptop temps!!

Now that I have your attention... I pulled apart my IBM Lenovo w700 to re-thermal-paste the cpu and graphics card. I used arctic silver ceramique. The temps are much better than with the 'stock' stuff, but the temperature delta between the heat sink is around 23-27c. This seems a bit high to me.

I am wondering if I messed up on the thermal paste application.

My process was: Wipe down cpu and heatsink with IPA several times. Then apply a dab of Ceramique to the cpu, replace the heatsink, push down a bit and swirl the heat sink around to spread the stuff out.

Mabey too little since I was afraid of using too much? I wanted to know what you guys think before I go through the process of pulling the thing apart again.

No. If I run Prime95, the temperature shoots up from around 35c at idle, to in the low 60s, then steadily rises as the heat sink warms up to the 80c range. It's uncomfortably warm...

I am wondering why, and if there if a fix

Hardly what I'd call crazy. That's pretty normal for mobile CPU's, considering the ventilation is rubbish and the cooling is even worse.

Those aren't high temperatures for a laptop, don't worry about it.

No. If I run Prime95, the temperature shoots up from around 35c at idle, to in the low 60s, then steadily rises as the heat sink warms up.

When I take the load off, it immediately drops to high 50s - low 60s (the temperature of my heatsing)

It seems like there is a pretty significant temperature differenct between the cpu and the heatsink.

I am wondering why, and if there if a fix.

Woah! Did it still last?

What bothers me is that I feel like the cpu can get alot cooler. Given the current temps, it leaves no room for OCing either =(

its still kicking. I just dont use linx and furmark at the same time anymore.

The problem is the gpu and cpu use the same crappy heatsink and the fan never ramps up to full speed.
