It's rather odd that nobody has ever posted some solid benches comparing the 2 configs, as 16x-8x and 16x-4x mobos are getting more and more common these days.
Oh. wait a minute...
Here we go;

and,

You found some. I couldnt find benchmarks anywhere for x16 x4 vs anything higher. Although its only a OCnet user its the first benchmarks I've seen for that application. I would love to see someone like toms do an in depth review of it though. The second article I've seen and doesnt really show what I'm looking for. It does start to show that the higher resolutions may become bottlenecked, so I'd love to see some eyefinity resolution benchmarks. REP for finding a x16 x4 benchmark, I really couldnt find any comparisons.

I searched for Sli 16x 4x, instead of my usual crossfire 16x 4x.
I had to assume they would be the same results.
It would be interesting to see if Eyefinity affects the results though.
Found another, still no Eyefinity though.

Oh my god, there are so many things wrong with that statement I can't just... the best troll engineers at 4chan couldn't come up with that given a year

and a $500,000,000 budget
