Bresnan Cable is terrible!!!

OK so I live in an apartment complex which only offers cable (no satellite available). I figured that getting cable from bresnan wouldn't be half bad but it's just terrible, seeing that I am an online gamer it's unplayable.

Here is a ping test

Is there anything I can do?

When the cable guy installed the cable I told him that I was losing packets and having jitter but he just proceeded to say... oh yeah that's not even half bad and the cable lines in this apartment complex must be old so there is nothing that can be done.

Is this true? Is there nothing that can be done. I am amazed to think that there is nothing that bresnan can do. It makes me mad that I am paying $50 for internet and can barely use it, speeds are fine but the ping and everything else is just terrible...

Any advise?

Maybe try broadband down the phoneline (ADSL) instead of cable?

Doesn't that give me a higher ping to begin with tho? Currently I am at 180-200 on the closest server I can connect to, would it be any better with ADSL you think?

Well cable should be hitting -50ms in the first place so something is wrong but if they are not willing to repair the problem or even admit there is one

ADSL/2+ could be you're best route

Really depends what kind of packages you can get in you're area though.

Look

I'm over 4000 miles away

adsl2+ ftw.
