i7 950 --> AMD power equivelant is...NOT Amd vs Intel thread.

I was looking to build a SB gaming rig but now with the recent recall im thinking about going AMD (im a complete noob to PC builds, just doing a lot of reading on the intel forum about CPUs just... because..lol)

What would be a 2600k/2500k or 950 equivelant in the AMD line of CPUs?

1100T.
You might as well wait 2-3 months and see what happens with Bulldozer and AM3+..

imn thinking about it and around that time the recall of SB should be over so it will be a big SB vs BD confusion decision.

Do you game on your 1090t?

I want to play ffxiv on near max settings so im just wondering.
actually theres no proper equivalent right now coz overall the 1100t is still beaten by the i7 950...let bulldozer out then we will talk........

Not sure how this makes sense, read a couple of reviews and determine which product appeals to you. There's no use dropping a bunch of cash on a platform upgrade now, when in 2-3 months you could spend roughly the same amount, have a better PC with higher longevity.

Yep. Any thing particular I can answer for you?

I'd imagine it would be up to the task, depending on what video card you paired with it.

I have done no reading whatsoever on AMD , mainly stuck to the intel forums bc of SB.

Id assume a 6950(70) would be up to the task matched with a 1090/1100

also i dont want to wait 2-3 months lol i have a intel duo core 2.0 ghz right now and it will not cut it. I can always upgrade at the end of the year again. money wont be an issue in q4 11' q1 12' [im impatient ]

I am a I7 950 owner and a prior 965BE owner. There is no comparison between the 2.The hex core AMD would run better but either way a good quad or hex will run just fine for gaming you just need a good gpu.I did not like the performance of my 965 but that was not gaming. You could wait on SB,wait on BD,get a AMD hex core or just go for a I7 1366 and put a little over clock to it.Any way you go your gaming will not be bottle necked.

Gaming is mostly gpu dependant(some exceptions like GTAIV). Anything from a amd 955 to SB would perform nearly the same in games.

Doesn't exist at this time.

Your right, an i7-950 is no match for an i7-2600k or a i5-2500k. It gets slaughtered.
