i7 950 --> AMD power equivelant is...NOT Amd vs Intel thread. - Page 2

post #11 of 17
Why is everyone saying 1100T or 1090T for gaming?

There are like no games that use 6 cores so what do you need a 6 core CPU for?

A faster quad or possibly even dual core would be better than a slower clocked hexa-core.

Ther are like multi core games like, that use like more than 4 cores like, but your right, people shouldn't buy thuban for like, gaming like, best cpu for gaming now is like 2500k like, well, would be like, if you could buy one like, but you get my drift like.

Neither are the Sandy Bridge CPU's... the motherboard is what is "recalled" but Intel doesn't say it is a recall.

Id say anything i7 920+ or PhenomII 955 paired with a good Video card is gonna play FFXIV no problem. My sig rig is the rig my cousin plays FFXIV on and its not maxed out but its pretty much there and runs np.

I myself run FFXIV on a AthlonX2 and a 250gts, the game look/plays great. So anything Quad and new card will run the game flawlessly.

You realize this argument has always existed, right?

Why need 2 cores?
Why need 4 cores?
Why need 6 cores?

If you have a game that utilizes 4 threads, you can dump your OS overhead onto the capacity of the other cores. BAM, noticeable difference. Also, for pushing a higher end GFX card you can utilize the extra advantage of additional CPU resources.

That shouldn't really matter... even if a game uses 4 cores I have never seen a game max 4 cores at 100% load.

The greater portion of games put most of the stress on the GPU's so usually you won't see all 4 cores maxed out. But I haven't played every game that exists so I can't say that is true for every game but for all the games I play it seems to be.
