It would be better answered if you update your sig rig with what kind of PSU you are running.
A crappy 580wt may only reliably deliver 400-450wt, whereas a quality 580 may deliver up to 650 or more if needed.

it should handle it easily, 5850's are energy misers.

The LE board does not support proper CFX, you'll be limited to 4x on the secondary card.
Get a Pro version.

As I just posted in another thread, 16x-4x results in a loss of about 5% on the 2nd card.
It's in no way worth buying a new mobo for, unless you are just really anal about getting the absolute most performance possible.

Well the MSI P67A-GD55 is only £20 more and has 2 16x PCI-E slots which would be nice and i hear its a nice overclocker!

I may be wrong, but according to these specs, that board is actually running one of the PCIe lanes @ 8x.
http://www.thinkcomputers.org/msi-p6...oard-review/2/

Edit: I just dl's the manual for the GD55, and it states directly that the 2nd PCIe slot is indeed an 8x.

Those aren't even cfx results.

I can tell you from firsthand experience that the 4x slot is a handicap when running cfx.
Granted that most of the time without an fps counter you wouldn't notice.

I'll use BC2 as an example, I experienced many noticeable slowdowns at 16x/4x, 8x/8x exhibited no such slowdowns.

The 4x card is always 10-20% bottlenecked.
