Done with AMD, going to Intel! - Page 7

I am so sick of the word fanboy. I have never seen the term fanboy more overused on any forum than Overclock.net

Since when did opinions turn into fanboyism.

On Topic: Sorry you had problems unlocking cores, and bored quality. I pretty much went down the same route as you for my machine, but I had no issues.

Good luck with your transition to Intel. IMO, the only reason people go AMD over Intel is because they didn't have the money. So its kind of confusing why you didn't go Intel in the first place..

Kirus, fanboys/trolls run rampant because they feel their e-peen must be displayed, as human being s we have pride and overlook that fact that its our greatest strength and weakness

Oh the good OLD days ( just sayin' )

And how much did AMD charge you when they held the top performance crown?

Let's look back at history since you brought it up:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...lt,1204-2.html

For those who don't know, and are too lazy to check, they charged a $1000 for that DUAL CORE CPU.

Top performance always comes at a premium price doesn't it? So why is it so shocking that Intel is charging a premium for the top performance now?

Focusing on the present, my how the tables have turned:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/CPU/2

Look at what Intel is providing for $300ish now ( 2600k ) Yes, the SATA II issue is being fixed, and current SB owners will get replacement mobos.

Why can't you guys let the OP switch in peace, if he wants to switch, it's HIS choice, don't take it personal.

Before anyone calls me a fanboy, I had a few of said AMD rigs that I quoted here. Plus, my current rig started with a 1090T in my cart before I "pulled the trigger"

Great... I just bought that EVO board (yesterday)... Hopefully my parts all work together. I don't plan on overclocking. OP did you just have troubles when you overclocked that board?

Damn I knew I shouldn't have stayed off this board for so long, now I have no clue as to what's good

and at the same time, intel charged $1000 for the piece of crap Pentium Extreme's that were not only hot, but under performing. Those CPU's even stayed in production well into the C2D's.

You also forgot to mention the FX-55, which was a $800 single core.

To the OP, many people tried unlocking dual and tricores to quads. Many of them came out with defective cores, and even if they reverted back to the original dual/tricore, the CPU remained bad. You take a crapshoot with unlocking cores and you lost.

I know, but surely you get the point I was making, right?

I'm not gonna go back and discuss all pricing from all different models from the past, as this was a mere example that high performance comes at a price, and both AMD & Intel have, and always will charge a premium for it.

I merely brought this up, because of this.

And once again, if the OP wants to switch, it's HIS choice, isn't that what this thread is SUPPOSED to be about?
