Convince me NOT to buy a Silverstone FT02/RV02B-E

Well, I was almost ready to pull the trigger on one of these because I liked the innovative design and I liked their looks AND I was gonna air cool. Then I started to overclock my card and realized, the stock solution is not gonna cut it. It is WAY too noisy if I increase fan speed more than 50%. I realized I may have to go water cooling if I want to push it more and keep noise level down. Well, if I am going to water cool the GPU, some good members suggested might as well do a CPU & GPU loop. But Silverstone did a VOOODOO on me. For whatever reason, I am trying to convince myself I can water cool efficiently on one of these case. I am igonring all indication these are a PITA to water cool. Perhaps my main reason being that I cannot go water cool right of the bat. I need to stay air cooled until summer when I get sufficient funds to go water cool. Aside the HAF X/932, I cannot seem to find a full tower that is as good at air cooling as the silverstones that looks good, efficient, and quiet (not sure if the HAFs are quiet). But I do not want to buy a HAF.... I just cannot get past their looks...

So someone convince me NOT to buy the silverstone and later regret during water cooling. I did some searches. I could find only one guy who water cooled a FT02. He mounted a 360 rad in the bottom. But wont that dump hot air inside the case?

If you want to watercool you could always get one of the many Corsair cases which offer a lot of overclocking options - but also piss poor air cooling unless you plan on modding.

RV02 is absolutely awful for water cooling. I'd loop FT02 under that designation also since they are essentially the same case.

Silverstone were idiots when they designed and placed the hose holes in the bottom of the case of RV02. They only put 3/4" feet on RV02. Reult? You can't use the hose holes for external radiator unless you're using 3/8" hose as the case doesn't sit tall enough to not sit on 90* barb-barb fittings with hose over them.

The only way you'll get a rad in the bottom is by yanking the 180mm fans out. Even then, as you point out you feed your computer radiator exhaust. The only way to WC with an external radiator is to dremel moto-tool hose holes yourself somewhere and then hanging a radiator off the back or side.

I regret buying my RV02. Of course, when I bought I never intended on WCing. Once I get some coin, I'll be getting a smallish Mountain Mods.

BTW-RV02 is a dust vacuum cleaner. If you have pets-expect to need to clean out the air filters at least 2 times a week. It is a neat looking case, but it is a PITA all around. Only good side of it is the 90* board mounting, as leaks off the CPU block if you have them only drip onto RAM heatspreads and won't fry your GPU.

Any suggestion on a case that I can air cool for now and won't be terrible to water cool later? I guess I can operate on the silverstone if I have to....but I am thinking mounting a rad at the back means an unnecessarily longer loop...sigh...

If ur going WC defo do not get the case above. For WC just get a nice cheap CM 690 ADV II

This is also great for Air cooling

Don't get the Raven. It looks too "gamer." Do get the FT02. Put an Arctic Cooling Accelero or Zalman ZF3000A (assuming it's compatible) on your card. Enjoy quiet air-cooled performance.
