You know you could buy a good cooler for a lot cheaper and just put a fan with a blue led on it separately?

Would save you money and you could get a much better cooler, not that zalmans are bad but low profile 1s like that are not the best.

Also that cooler is known to have loud vibration, fan noise and rubbish cooling. And that is on top of the annoying installation

I have three of them (1 copper and 2 aluminum units) and so far, the only real issue I've had is dealing with the installation. No noise or vibration issues with any of them and while it's cooling isn't as good as I'd like it to be, at least I haven't had anything get too hot - Yet.

Cooling power isn't great and won't be up to task for an OC'ed AM3 unless it's one of the low wattage CPU's such as a Sempron - Maybe a dual core Regor chip close to stock settings.
Definitely not good for anything much beyond that. If you are dead-set on one of these, at least get the all copper unit. I have one of those and it's better than the aluminum made units - In fact it does well enough for my other stuff but it's still not good enough for an AM3 overall and clearly not my choice for those.
With the chip you want to use it with, I can already see a meltdown in your near future with one of these.

Even a stock heatpipe cooler for a 939 Opty works better and yes, I have a few of those too and know the difference between these coolers as how well they work.
It's your call and hope whatever you decide works for you and your stuff - If not, you've been warned.

Drop it. Cmon that thing was good back in socket 754 era. AM3 chips are scorching hot for that thing.

Want some nice thing with blue LED and that looks sexy? Get a Thermaltake SpinQ. It'll be ages better than that Zalman.

Note that the TT is damn expensive for the cooling power that you get, but at least it dissipates up to 150W. I think it can go safely up to 175 tho.

SpinQ is downright awful and loud. A 9700 Zalman should be able to handle a 125W AMD CPU just fine. I was using a 9500 to keep my unlocked PhenomII 720x4 cool for a long time did the job just fine. Especially if the OP isn't OCing.

If you are dead set on the Zalman copper and blue fan at least get this:http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp That is if your case has the head room.

Or just get this;
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103065
and 2 of these,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811998121
and one of these,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812123321
It will cool well, and be brighter and more BLUE than the Zalman.

Ewww Apevia fans!

Get the Rosewill Blue LED 120's if you're going to go cheap. At least they put out decent airflow, and are relatively quiet . Otherwise, I agree completely with the above post.

The SpinQ is... garbage. A buddy of mine bought it because it looked cool and all. The vibration and noise off that thing was ridiculous and his CPU @ stock was still running in the high 30's, totally not worth it.

If you are just after the "looks" take the money you are looking to spend and purchase a hyper 212+ heatsink, which looks nice from the top. It's only 30 bucks so take the left over cash and get yourself 2 nice blue led fans and do a push/pull setup.

With that you would have way better cooling and I think it would look better as well... blue led's bouncing off a silver like surface just look awesome.
