Tell you friend to shove it.

I had a m11x core 2, and loved it. I honestly dont think the R2 version would help too much anyways, that is; if your buying for the purpose of gaming. I think Shattered skies was the main game to bog down the m11x.

I had also used it for school as well, loved typing on it, and the mousepad was nice too. I hate to admit but the main point of me selling it was because I learned about the "known hinge problem" figured mine was still good so I sold it.

Though I have no idea of actual numbers or figures to tell you how many hinges broke, so either way I guess you have to take a chance

Most if not all M11x R1s have their hinges break within their first year or so. You then have to call Dell for repairs.

I have mine for a little over a year, and no problems, hinge was not being stressed at all, just didnt like the idea of losing all of its value because of a broken hinge.

Hell even then I had people shooting me offers of like 400 with the 4gb upgrade and 128gb ssd drive. They were most annoying

I recently planned on getting an M11X doe to a tight budget, but I wasn't really going to take it with me every day, so I decided to get a refurbished ASUS G series laptop. Still deciding between the G72 or the G60

Yeah. 1.3ghz core 2 duo is pretty slow. I think for a couple hundred more you can grab a mobile i7 laptop which blows this away.

I would look into the Acer TimelineX series. 3820TG/4820TG would all fit the bill at a better price and better performance in most cases. And they still maintain a somewhat small size. You can order the 3820TG with a Core-i5 480M, AMD 6550M 1GB GPU, and 4GB of 1333MHz ram here:

m11x doesnt serve as a desktop replacement, its more of a gaming netbook type. Its for ppl who want to do mild gaming while having plenty of battery life and extra mobility. Im keen to get one tbh

I have one of these M11x R1s and I think its a brilliant little powerhouse. I bought it for my boyfriend to replace his 15 inch ASUS so that he can take it to class and occasionally play games it on it when we're not at home. Its the size of a netbook yet the power in it is great. If you already have a desktop, its a nice machine to carry around. Don't pick this if its going to replace your desktop.
