I just overclocked. Your answer will be appreciated. - Page 3

image isn't working, The max voltage i would go on a 65nm WITH stock cooling would be around 1.35v to 1.45v, my old e2160 (65nm) automatically sets to 1.55v for no reason, and loads well into the 80's... and thats just a dual core.

besides if you goto stupidly high voltages for the processor (1.6v and above) it can damage the VRM units on the motherboard. iv had some blow out on me with a pentium 4 so yeah its not nice

EDIT:

I just looked up your motherboard, that is not a great board for high voltage and power draw from the CPU, stick below 1.45v if you can.

Here another one.
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1642273

My idle temps are below 45. Is it okay now? Should I stop or do something else? I guess the voltages are okay.
Its not the idle temperature you want to be worried about, its when your stress testing. Using intel burn test for upto 10 Runs on maximum memory will ensure the processor is stable. Since you have the G0 revision of the processor i would keep temperatures below 70 degrees celcius at full load. Also thats a good overclock so far!

Thanks that made me feel better. So I will have 10 runs in Intel Burn Test then get back and post some images.

Update
Here. I made it run 10 times. Screenshot shows everything.

I am VERY impressed with you, Armen!

You managed to get 3.6Ghz on 1.4v.

The reason I keep mine @ 1.6v is because even then I don't get 70C load.

If I were you, I would keep it at 3.6Ghz/1.4v if it's stable. If it is, get a better cooler and make sure your temps using the program ORTHOS are around 70C.

But if you don't want to spend the extra money, 3.2Ghz/1.32v is just fine.

Personally, I did notice a difference between 3.2 and 3.6 in performance, but not a big one.

Thank you so much Track. Without you I wouldn't be pushed to try it and I was impressed but the problem is at 1.4 it was not stable when I ran Prime95 I got BSoD. Also this is the best cooler I can get so far. I guess I should stick to 3.0Ghz+ Since I'm planning to get a 6870 or a 560Ti so far what people told me is the only choice to notice improvements is to make my CPU run 3.0Ghz+.

+Rep to you for helping me out.
Take note my motherboard is really old so I can't do much with this. I have to sacrifice for a mean time. Then just get a new motherboard, processor and rams in the future that's it. Right now I should get a new powersupply and a video card. The reason I am getting a power supply is that this is really old and I don't want to take the risk of losing the parts cos of the power supply getting short circuit or burnt wires. Thanks again since this is my first time overclocking and did this all in a day.

I really appreciate that.

Guess what - I'm writing to you from my Q6600.

And get what else - I tried doing 3.6Ghz/1.4v on my P45, the newer version of your P35.. and it didn't even boot!

So, I think you have a pretty special CPU. Keep it at 3.2Ghz. It will certainly be enough for an HD 6950 (which is what you should get)

It's superstition that if your PSU is old, it will kill your hardware. As long as it has enough Amps, it will be fine.

And btw, you're from the Philippines? You never cease to impress me.

My mom is actually from the Philippines. I have a mix blood of Armenian/Persian. How did you know? Actually impress? You're kidding. I only started over clocking today. I'm not like a real Filipino who understands better and knows better. I'm still on the verge of learning more and more. Btw I live in the Philippines right now for my studies since its cheaper in these countries unlike where I was born and raised in the Middle East (Kuwait). Haha. Long story right?

Anyways back to the topic. Yeah I also thought of getting the 6950 since that's what people told me to do since its the best high end card for its price. And its nice of you suggesting me that since you use a Nvidia card and some people are fan boys so they suggest things what they like. The only thing is that Nvidia's are amazing but the price stops people who can't easily get it. So for one Nvidia card its like buying two good AMD cards for crossfire. But that's just me I can't afford for now AMD since I'm a student and I'm not working. Thanks a lot again. So far is the last image I posted alright? Nothing bad about the voltage and everything?

Just in case you want to see it again. You don't have to search for it.
http://i860.photobucket.com/albums/a...18-49-36PM.png

What I'm also after is the temperatures. I don't want to go for another cooler since I recently got this and it costs really cheap. Before, when I had a stock cooler and stock clocks my idle temp was on 60+!! imagine that. Then desperately bought something affordable which comes with the thermal paste.

I'm impressed that you were born in Kuwait and live in the Philippines.. but you have such great English.

You're also very intelligent and courteous. You represent your people in a very good light.
Although, I've always stood for the truth of the Armenian genocide.. even though my girlfriend is Turkish.

I myself am half Russian, half Iraqi - although the Jewish sects of both, so it's quite different.

Anyway!

I am kind of an nVidia fanboy, seeing as I've only owned one ATI card and it died on me.
But the HD 6950 is too good to pass up. I would get the HD 6990 if only folding wasn't so important to me. That's the one thing about nVidia cards - they fold amazingly.

Yeah, totally, your current OC is fantastic. I have not even been able to copy it!
Just do one last thing:
Download ORTHOS (it's free) and run FOUR iterations of, yes four, on the Gromacs Core (last option)
If after an entire hour, you're perfectly stable at 3.2/1.32v, keep it.
Otherwise, take it up to 1.4v
