GTX 570 or HD6970??!! - Page 4

GTX 570 is better but 6970 has a good price tag to it.

This review is with the latest drivers on both.

One other thing to consider you can buy a 6950 and potentially unlock it to a 6970. so maybe that is the way for you to go.
That's a good idea... but i think an unlocked 6950 isn't really good for OC... but 6970 is!

6970. Not because it is a little faster but because it has 2gb of video ram.

This one has the 570 overclocked to 874core

PhysX, doesn't really matter, you might see 2 games released during the time the card is still relevant.
Tesellation is about as relevant as PhysX is ATM.

So 1080p get the 570

Pretty much agreed. I'd say 1080p and greater, get the 6970, lower than 1080p, get the 570.

OR

If you can get one at a considerably cheaper price, get that one, they perform similarly. TBH tho, features like MLAA are worth it in an ATI card IMHO. In Borderlands and GTA4, it helps A LOT w/ jaggies, hardly any performance impact too.

6970 if your at a higher resolution, and i managed to pick it up £20 cheaper than a gtx 570

In my opinion, the 6970 is superior in crossfire compared to the 570 in SLI. However in single vs. single, both are great choices (the 570 might be a slightly better choice as a single card).

As for the comment about unlocking 6950->6970, I would say no that's not a good idea. It does potentially cause damage to the graphics card. Why? Because there is a physical difference between the card (as people argue there is not): The power pins are different. The BIOS of the 6970 draws on an 8-pin connector, and when you're using a 6970 BIOS with a 6950, your graphics card attempts to draw power from a 6-pin assuming it's an 8-pin. This causes irregularities in the power draw and damage to the internal parts.

The 2 extra pins are grounds.
